“Afraid of Losing Your Job?”
We've decided to make this webinar, which debuted last month, a regular monthly offering in light of what the current economy has done to any semblence of job security.
These days, few people’s jobs are safe. Just remember that employers harbor the same fears for the survival of his / her position or perhaps the enterprise that you do for your position in it. Adopting that point of view will bring you a lot closer to the kinds of ideas and activities that will help allay some of your boss's fears and, in so doing, your own.
Perhaps things aren’t going so well with the new boss. You were a great employee for years, but lately you’re made to feel like a schmuck.
In this webinar, you will learn:
- How to recognize signs of trouble
- Steps you can take to delay or even prevent losing your job
- How to avoid mistakes that can imperil or diminish your unemployment benefits should you need them
- Things you can be doing RIGHT NOW to make the transition to a new job much easier (if it turns out you need to do that).
Here at LCI, we recently helped a man who had been put on a Performance Improvement Plan at work. With our coaching, he was able to:
- Postpone his dismissal,
- Get severance he would have otherwise missed out on, and
- Quickly move into a new position after just a few weeks of unemployment—instead of being out for many months, even years, as has been the case with so many others.
It's essential that you are not caught unprepared! By getting some help and putting some real thought into the sustainability of your current position, from your boss's perspective as well as your own, you'll be laying the groundwork for your future options. There's a lot you can do to cussion the blow if it does come.
So if you feel like you're on the bubble and you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop, click on the button below and register and learn all about some of these preventative measures.

Add Time Magazine to the List...
You can add Time Magazine to the list of those who look to Jack to learn the latest in career trends especially when they involve salary negotiations.
In an article that appeared in the Dec 19th issue of Time, author Josh Sanburn said this:
"November brought good news and bad news for U.S. workers. The unemployment rate dipped, but wages remained stagnant. Pay increased just 1.8% in the past year, about half as much as inflation. That may be changing. "If you're one of the survivors, your employer doesn't want to lose you," says career coach Jack Chapman. Still, just demanding a raise probably won't work. Peter Bregman, an author and management consultant, recommends something counterintuitive: do less. If you're assigned 15 tasks, talk to your boss about focusing your energy on five. Then in six months, show your manager the tangible benefits you've provided..."

Jack has been quoted in the career section of the Wall Street Journal a bunch of times and has been a regular contributor at internet career giants monster.com, salary.com and theladders.com.
'Negotiating Your Salary' now on Kindle
Jack's long-time best seller on salary negotiations (Negotiating Your Salary - How to Make $1,000 a Minute), originally published 25 years ago and now in its 7th edition, is now available on Kindle.
This is more important to many in salary negotiations than you may at first think. So many of Jack's clients kick themselves for going into a negotiation interview totally unprepared - and now you can take in the Lightening Round in Jack's book and add thousands to your pay check even if you only have an hour or two.
Now there's no excuse: you can literally download the "bible" of salary negotiations to your Kindle or other reading device while you're on the train!
A Schedule Change for LinkedIn Basics Webinar
It was our intention right from the start to offer the LinkedIn Basics webinar before the LinkedIn Master Class - just makes sense, right? But, somehow things got turned around with the webinar schedule this month and Basics was scheduled the day after the Master Class. Not good.
We wanted you to know we've fixed that and will now be offering LinkedIn Basics on Monday, January 16th, the day before LinkedIn Master Class. You can sign up for one or both of the webinars by going here.
Of course, if you had already registered for LinkedIn Basics at the previously scheduled time, you will be notified in an email from GotoWebinar and there is no need to re-register. We apologize for any inconvenience in your schedule.

Now anybody can apply to anything at the drop of a nanosecond and at no significant cost. Spiders, search engines, auto responders do the work for you and drop openings on your front "you've got mail" door every morning.
